Someone threw a knife into a woman's chest as she was taking her trash can to the street at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.

The report said the 26-year-old woman was taking her trash can to the street in the 200 block of Johnson Lane when she was hit in the chest with a knife.

According to the report, the female victim told police a woman threw the knife and was trying to hit someone else.

Nothing in the report specified how the victim knew the woman was trying to hit someone else.

The victim was taken to the hospital by a family member for treatment, and suffered a "semi-deep puncture wound to the chest that will possibly need stitches," the report said.

The report described the suspect as a black woman with short dreadlocks standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds.
