Wayne Preparatory Academy has submitted site plans to the city of Goldsboro for the addition of a middle school at its charter school location near the corner of Patetown and Tommy's Road.

Site plans include the construction of a 29,396-square-foot, two-story, brick building next to the elementary school on Tommy's Road.

The Goldsboro Planning Commission will review the plans during its meeting Monday at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 214 N. Center St.

The middle school is the second phase of the school's four-phased plan, which started with opening an elementary school in 2014. The new building is planned for occupancy in July 2017, according to the site plan.

The project is planned to include a parking lot, with 156 paved parking spaces, and the completion of internal connecting driveways that allow access to Tommy's Road and Patetown Road.

An additional entrance from Tommy's Road is not planned, but access to the property will be available from Patetown Road through the interconnecting driveway, said James Rowe, Goldsboro planning director.

The N.C. Department of Transportation will require pavement widening for turning lanes along Patetown Road. There are no current plans for road improvements along Tommy's Road, Rowe said.

Also during the planning commission meeting, the board will consider:

* Site plans for a Brewmasters restaurant, at 2402 E. Ash St.

* A conditional-use permit for a tattoo parlor at 1923 N. William St., in the shopping center where The Playground Nightclub is located.

* A conditional-use permit for a tattoo parlor at 605 E. Ash St. The Ash Street building will have offices, a receptionist area, waiting areas and a retail showroom. One room inside the building is planned for the tattoo business.

* A preliminary subdivision plan for a 15.89-area site on C.R. Lewis Dairy Road, west of N.C. 111.

* A two-lot preliminary subdivision plan for a near 7-acre site, where Carolina Mini Storage and an office multi-tenant building is located. The developer is interested in subdividing the lots in an effort to sell about an acre where the offices are located, at 1299 Parkway Drive.

Planning commission decisions are recommended to the Goldsboro City Council, which will review the items during its Sept. 6 meeting.
