Man hides from police in woman's closet

A man Goldsboro police say ran from a traffic stop in the Day Circle area late Friday night faces several charges after he also hit a police vehicle and ducked into a woman's house to hide.
Frank Tyler Valme, 22, 908 Day Circle is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree trespass, injury to personal property, careless and reckless driving to endanger, failure to burn headlamps and no operator's license.
According to the police report, Officer Andrew Nail attempted to stop Valme for driving with no head lights on and Valme tried to flee, crashing into a light pole in the 100 block of Day Circle. He then backed the 2002 Mitsubishi Galant he was driving into Nail's police cruiser causing damage to the passenger side.
Valme then hopped out and ran on foot, the report said. Nail followed and was flagged down by a woman who said he ran into her apartment. Nail and a another officer entered the apartment and found Valme hiding in a bathroom closet.
He was taken into custody and charged and placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
