A 16-year-old Goldsboro youth is being held under a $30,000 secured bond in the Wayne County Jail after a series of residential break-ins, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Benjamin Elijah Fentress, 317 Camden Park Drive, is charged with two counts each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and a single count of attempted first-degree burglary.
Sheriff's deputies began their investigation Jan 17 after a break-in took place in the Rosewood community during which about $800 worth of property was taken. During the course of that investigation, a second attempted break-in took place, this time while the owner was home.
On Feb. 13, Fentress allegedly tried to enter a residence while the occupants were asleep, setting off an alarm and attracting police. Fentress was gone by the time deputies arrived on scene, the press release said.
Then, Feb. 25, a third residence in the area was broken into and property taken in the amount of $2,014. According to the release, investigators were able to identify Fentress after the third robbery.
Fentress was taken into custody Thursday and charged. Property valued at $300 has been recovered, the release said.
