Goldsboro police have no new leads in their investigation into the murder of Doral Deangelo Best, despite the fact that investigators have been working around the clock since the 42-year-old was shot to death in the Central Heights community Tuesday.

"We've done canvassing and are looking for key information," Maj. Al King said.

Police and rescue workers arrived within minutes of a shots fired call in the 100 block of Ervin Drive just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, to find Best lying shot in a ditch in front of his home.

The man died shortly after their arrival.

The crime scene investigation lasted throughout the night and well into Wednesday morning. Several bullet casings and rounds were recovered from the area surrounding where Best fell after being shot.

So far, however, his killer -- or killers -- remain unidentified.

"It's just a matter of finding the right person with the right bit of information," King said.

Anyone with information regarding the murder is asked to call Sgt. J. L. Sutton at 919-580-4210 or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.

Tips can also be texted to 919-222-4230.

Callers remain anonymous and information leading to a felony arrest is eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
