Optimist Club offers summer computer camp

The Optimist Club of Goldsboro's second annual Computers4Kids Summer Camp will be held in July.
The camp will provide students with the skills necessary to refurbish and to build their own functional computer systems from parts obtained from used computers. Students will also learn how to install the Edubuntu operating system.
Students who complete the camp will receive a certificate of completion and will be able to take their refurbished computer system home with them.
Students enrolled in grades 5 through 9 of the Wayne County Public Schools for the 2014-2015 school year are eligible to apply.
Last year, 15 students attended camp.
The camp will be held in three sessions at the Optimist Club of Goldsboro's office in the Edgerton Building, East Walnut Street.
The sessions will be held July 8-10, July 15-17 and July 22-24. The daily sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each session will have a maximum enrollment of seven children, and enrollment is on a first-to-apply, first-to-be-accepted basis. A $75 enrollment fee is required on the first day of each session.
At least two adults, an instructor and an assistant, from the Optimist Club will be present at all times during each session.
Students are required to provide their own lunch, and lunch time is from noon to 1 p.m. each day. Parents also have the option to drop off a lunch bag for their students during lunch time.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided by the Optimist Club.
