A former 4th Fighter Wing commander will soon put on his second star.
Brig. Gen. James "Mike" Holmes, who held Seymour Johnson Air Force Base's top post from August 2004 to September 2006, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general, a promotion that will take effect at the end of the month.
Since leaving Goldsboro, the general has worn many hats at installations across the world, from Hawaii to Afghanistan, where he served as commander of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield.
Holmes currently serves at the Pentagon as the principal director to the deputy assistant secretary of defense for Middle East policy.
