A former 4th Fighter Wing officer will soon take on the top Air Force post in Afghanistan, making him the third Seymour Johnson Air Force Base airman to take on the role since March 2008.

Brig. Gen. Darryl Roberson, an F-15E pilot who served as the 4th's Operations Group commander from July 2002 to August 2004, will be the next commander of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield -- a position that has been held, over the past several years, by former 4th commanders Brig. Gen. Steve Kwast and Maj. Gen.-elect Mike Holmes.

More than 600 airmen from Seymour Johnson's 336th Rocketeers are currently assigned to the 455th and are expected to remain in theater for several more months.
