PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools

* Softball: C.B. Aycock 9, Cleveland 8 -- The Golden Falcons' Kaitlyn Mooring delivered an RBI walk-off hit in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday afternoon. Sharon Moorefield tied the game with a two-RBI hit. Brooke Price led the CBA offense with two hits and an RBI. Anna Bartlett contributed one hit and one RBI. Weather permitting, the Golden Falcons (5-4 overall) face Fike on Friday.

* Baseball: Rosewood 13, James Kenan 1 (4 inn.) -- T. Capps, W. Albert and T. McKeel combined for a one-hitter and nine strikeouts on the mound. McKeel (two RBI) and A. Harper (RBI) paced the Eagles' offense with two hits apiece. D. Phillips (two RBI), T. Capps (two RBI), P. Jones, pinch-hitter W. Hinson (RBI) and J. Clark (RBI) each contributed one hit. McKeel, Albert and Clark each had two stolen bases.

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 5, New Bern 3 -- Kaleb Moore and Blake Dilda posted two hits apiece, and each drove in a run during the Golden Falcons' road win Wednesday afternoon. Jakob Prebe (RBI), Trey Smith (RBI) and Seth Shephard each supplied one hit. Dilda emerged as the winning pitcher. He allowed one earned run on six hits and struck out six New Bern batters in six innings. Kaleb Moore collected the save.

Middle schools

* Girls' soccer: Dillard 4, Eastern Wayne 0 -- Dyamond George and Diamond Jones scored two goals apiece in the Tigers' win Wednesday afternoon. Shayla Greene, Coryanna Smith and Marajia Miller each passed out one assist. Goalkeeper Victoria Royal earned the shutout between the pipes. Dillard (6-1-1 overall) plays host to Spring Creek on Monday.
