Volume production.

The Rosewood High varsity baseball outfit dabbled in such Tuesday evening, getting maximum yield from both sides of its lineup en route to a 12-0, mercy-rule conquest of Carolina 1-A foe Neuse Charter at "The Nest."

At the run-out's root, however, was pitching.

Eagles' starter Max White was blistering from the outset, throwing a litany of vapor trails by a bewildered, late-arriving cast of Cougars. After striking out the side to begin the affair, the quick-working right-hander issued another empty half of work to the visitors in a speedy second frame.

In total, the junior allowed no hits, no runs and five strikeouts.

From there, Rosewood's contact-hitting lineup handled the rest.

In a hail of free passes, hit batsmen and timely base knocks, the hosts crossed three runs in their half of an endless first inning, then five more in a dizzying, error-filled second stanza.

In a blink, the Eagles held an 8-0 advantage.

Junior Chance Howard assumed the cliff for White in the third, picking up his mate's pace by logging two strikeouts and retiring Neuse in 1-2-3 fashion.

The effort seemingly inspired another Rosewood bashing at the plate, as the hosts touched Neuse pitching for a quartet of runs over the next two frames -- stints that saw a trio of wild pitches and two more Eagles plunked.

Senior Boone Moody emerged from the Rosewood pen in the fifth, handling matters in a hasty, bother-me-not fashion.

Ball game -- Rosewood 12, Neuse Charter 0.

The Eagles were paced offensively by designated hitter Derek Neal, who finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Also contributing to the landslide was junior Kolby Harris, whose 2-for-4 effort included a first-inning RBI double.

Logan Price, Tucker Chapin, Tanner Bradley, Wyatt Searles and Moody also scored runners for the Eagles. Jonathan Peacock finished 3-for-3 at the plate.

""We talked a lot, and I was proud of the way we stayed focused tonight," Rosewood skipper Jason King said of the effort. "The guys did a good job of staying in their lane (tonight)."

Rosewood, now 7-2 overall and 5-0 in league play, travels to James Kenan today.
