WILSON -- Wayne Country Day sealed the outcome in the latter stages of a 10-0 conquest of Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference foe Community Christian on Friday afternoon.

The league rivals were scoreless through four innings until the Chargers plated four fifth-inning runs. They added six runs in the seventh inning.

Jack Talton changed the momentum in the bottom of the fourth inning. He took over on the mound after starter Ryan Smith allowed the Cyclones to load the bases with no outs.

Talton struck out the side on nine pitches.

"That was a big part of the game," WCDS head coach Michael Taylor said.

Case Kermode ignited the fifth-inning offensive surge with a one-out triple. John Strickland and Mitch Turnage followed with hits. Amane Godo walked and Jon Bryan plated two runs with a double.

Avery Browning capped the rally with a sacrifice fly.

"(A) really big inning for us," Taylor said.

Talton held Community to one hit, posted seven strikeouts and earned the win during his four-inning stint.

Kermode just missed hitting for the cycle with a single, two doubles and a triple. Strickland provided four hits and two RBI. Turnage turned in a three-hit outing.

Godo, Bryan (two RBI) and Browning each had one hit.

Wayne Country Day (5-2 overall, 3-0 CPIC) entertains Terra Ceia on Tuesday. First pitch is 4:45 p.m.
