HOLLYWOOD CROSSROADS -- Charles B. Aycock rallied to force extra innings and turned back D.H. Conley, 5-4, in a nine-inning Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference affair Tuesday evening.
Tied at 4-4, Blake Gipson started the Golden Falcons' rally with a one-out single in the ninth. He took third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.
"We needed that break," CBA head coach Charles Davis said.
Gipson ended the day 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Nolan Harrell cranked out two doubles in a 3-for-4 effort. Chandler Matthews supplied two hits.
Bradley Pate and Luke Frederick posted one hit and one RBI apiece.
Frederick started on the hill and allowed two earned runs on four hits and four walks in five innings. Jordan Gay emerged as the winning pitcher with four innings of two-run, three-hit relief.
The duo combined for four strikeouts.
Aycock (5-2 overall, 1-1 ECC) entertains South Central on Friday.
