BOYS' TRACK: Golden Falcons' Owens sets school record in 1,600 meters

WINTERVILLE -- Deshawn Owens posted a school record in the 1,600-meter run and C.B. Aycock logged a second-place team finish during an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet ran at South Central HS on Wednesday.
Owens crossed the finish line in 4 minutes, 40.33 seconds in the 1,600.
Kamarion Graham won the 100-meter dash, while Tahj Thacker was third. Tayquan Hampton and Rico Dawson wound up second and fourth, respectively, in the 200. Micah Castillo was third in the 110 hurdles.
David McIver and John Parrish turned in third- and fourth-place efforts respectively, in the 400. Randall Holliday captured third in the 3,200 meters.
CBA topped the competition in the 4x2 relay and placed second in the 4x1.
Jarius Hinnant won the high jump, while Trevor Holt took first in the shot put. Elijah Bryant filed a second-place throw in the discus and third-place toss in the shot put.
Noah Pilkington was second in the discus.
