GREENSBORO -- It's official.
Rosewood is THE wrestling dynasty in eastern North Carolina.
The Eagles proved it in dominating fashion Saturday evening.
Jordan Todd (132 pounds) and Cameron Helt (182) each emerged as an individual state champion, and Rosewood successfully defended its team crown during the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A wrestling championships. Todd and Helt are the fourth and fifth individual state champs in RHS history along with Nick Quillen, Kaleb Taylor and Timothy Decatur.
Taylor and Decatur each won a state crown in 2016.
Rosewood collected 106.5 team points -- 30.5 more than runner-up Avery County, which scored 70. Voyager Academy ended up third, followed by perennial power Alleghany and Uwharrie Charter Academy.
Todd defeated Elkin's Jude Lloyd 5-0 in their championship match. Helt racked up an impressive 21-12 major decision over Avery County's Blake Williams during their title bout.
Christian Decatur (106) and Chris Hill (113) each finished state runner-up in their respective weight classes. Tim Decatur claimed third at 120 pounds with a sudden victory over Alleghany's Jake Blevins. Louis Tortual defeated Neuse Charter's Alexander Gonzalez 7-3 in their third-place match at 138 pounds.
