BOYS' BASKETBALL: Carswell leads Heat past East Wake

Senior Jordan Carswell poured in a career-high 22 points as Goldsboro Heat steam-rolled East Wake, 73-41, in the NCHEAC regular-season finale for both teams Friday evening.
Carswell also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists for the Heat, which faces fourth-seeded South Wake in the NCHEAC east regional quarterfinals next Friday at New Life Camp.
Gavin Portela provided a double-double -- 16 points, 17 rebounds. He also filed seven assists, seven steals and five blocked shots. Harman Kaler chipped in 17 points.
Goldsboro is 13-7 overall.
