GIRLS' BASKETBALL: WCDS advances to CPIC title game

WILSON -- Jala Holloman pumped in 19 points and Wayne Country Day defeated Greenfield, 57-24, in semifinal-round play of the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference tournament Thursday evening.
Holloman added five assists and five steals.
Lexi Jeffreys contributed a double-double -- 14 points, 12 rebounds.
"The girls came out and played well defensively," WCDS head coach David Flowers said. "(Our) transition in the second quarter looked great. We held them to three points in the second half."
The top-seeded Chargers (17-7 overall) oppose Pope John Paul II in the finals today at Greenfield School. Tip-off is 6:30 p.m.
