STANHOPE -- Rosewood captured its first-ever Thomas Cowles Memorial Firebird Duals team championship on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles defeated perennial Big East 3-A power Rocky Mount, Middle Creek, Farmville Central and Leesville Road.

Joey Behrend, Christian Decatur, Tim Decatur and Jayden Thomas each concluded the day 4-0. Seth Finney, Cameron Helt, Hunter Weeks and Jordan Todd collected three victories apiece.

Noah Carden, Louis Tortual, Chris Hill and Reid Amodeo each had their hand raised in victory twice. Collin Pendergraph, Andrew Wade, heavyweight Nyterrius Williams and Gael Jaramillo each recorded one individual win.

RHS is 36-2 in dual-team competition this season.

Eastern Wayne wrapped up the day with a 1-3 worksheet. The Warriors defeated Northern Nash, but lost to Rocky Mount, Leesville Road and Southern Nash.

Victor Skinner and Christian Torres each picked up three individual victories for the Warriors. Joseph Scofield, Mario Harper and Dilissus Council each provided two wins. Harper returned to the lineup after missing more than a month of wrestling due to concussion protocol.

Anthony Ackee, Emmanuel Harper, Mekhi Levins-Williams and Jaleek Lewis each earned one victory.

Eastern Wayne plays host to defending Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A regular-season and tournament champ New Bern on Tuesday.

Rosewood is scheduled to participate in a three-team meet Thursday at Heide Trask.
