Eastern Wayne's Joseph Scofield and Nate Matthews each emerged victorious in four individual matches during the Warrior Holiday Duals contested Saturday in New Hope.

The duo combined for four pins on the day.

The Warriors finished 1-4 in the six-team, round-robin event. Their lone victory was a 42-36 decision over Wilmington New Hanover. The squad endured losses against East Duplin, county rival Rosewood, Gray's Creek and eventual Warrior Dual champ Southern Pines Pinecrest.

"Individually, we had several guys wrestle well," second-year EW head coach Aaron Lynch said. "We had two starters out due to injury, including (106-pounder) Mario Harper. We are hopeful they will both be in the lineup Tuesday night.

"However, we as a team, have to get our offense going by taking more shots. We're still making some young mistakes from the bottom position and on defending against takedowns. These are things we will continue to work on in the practice room."

Victor Skinner and Dilissus Council won three individual bouts apiece. Quiontay Foust and Mekhi Levins-Williams each claimed two wins. Anthony Ackee and Jaleek Lewis each picked up one win.

Rosewood (19-2 overall) posted dual victories over East Duplin, Eastern Wayne, Gray's Creek and New Hanover. Pinecrest handed the Eagles a 39-25 loss in the title match.

Nineteen RHS matmen combined for 45 individual victories, including five by Tim Decatur. The sophomore remained unbeaten in 28 outings this season.

Reid Amodeo, Jordan Todd, Jayden Thomas and Christian Decatur collected four wins apiece. David Brown, Isaiah Kornegay and Hunter Weeks each had three wins.

Other winners for Rosewood were -- Ashton Lane, Nyterrius Williams, Louis Tortual, Collin Pendergraph, Joey Behrend, Cameron Helt, Andrew Wade, Brian Melgar, Jarelle Simmons, Eric Simmons and Chris Hill.

Eastern Wayne entertains Corinth-Holders and North Pitt for a tri-match on Tuesday. Match time is 6 p.m.

Rosewood hits the mat Wednesday in the annual Pilkington Memorial Duals at C.B. Aycock. Opening-round matches start at 3:30 p.m.
