WILSON -- Jamal King torched the nets for a career-high 44 points and Cole Atwood drained five 3-pointers -- in the first half -- during Wayne Country Day's 107-74 triumph over Faith Assembly in the third-place game of the Greenfield Christmas Classic.

An all-tournament selection, King pulled down 13 rebounds for the Chargers, who rose to 9-3 overall this season. Atwood finished with 23 points. Jimmie Sanders contributed a double-double -- 22 points, 16 assists.

Marcus Metcalf provided 10 rebounds and four assists.

"The team was big in tonight's win," Wayne Country Day head coach David Flowers said. "Everyone played great in this tournament. Marcus really stood out defensively and with his rebounding in tonight's game. Seeing this team starting to click is going to make our last half of the season very exciting.

"There is a lot of potential here and I believe they are starting to see it and believe it."

WCDS slipped into the third-place game with an 80-76 loss to Fayetteville Academy in semifinal-round action. King logged 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Sanders chipped in 13 points and 14 assists.

Atwood filled up the basket for 19 points, including 15 from 3-point range. Metcalf tallied 14 points.

"The guys competed very well in this game against a much bigger Fayetteville team," Flowers said. "Rebounding was a big factor and we just couldn't seem to keep them off the offensive boards. We shot the ball well and hit 13 threes."
