at GOLDSBORO HIGH (0-9, 0-3)

Last time out: Goldsboro lost 48-6 to Ayden-Grifton; Greene Central d. South Lenoir 61-28.

Last meeting: 2015, Greene Central won 56-0.

Notable: Xzavior Bowden leads the Cougars' ground game with 477 yards and 3 TDs on 93 carries. All are team highs. Quarterbacks KJ Alston and Dayquell Dawson have combined for 675 yards through the air. Bowden and senior LB RJ Dodson continued to be the defensive leaders with 66 and 65 tackles, respectively. The two have combined for five stops behind the line of scrimmage.

What are your thoughts on playing Greene Central? "It's another good opportunity for our guys. It's senior night, our last home game for a bunch of our guys so we're looking to go out and finish their home career with a bang," GHS head coach Bennett Johnson said. "That's been the message all week. We know we're going to have to play well. But it's surreal to our guys knowing this is their last game at home."

What would you like to see your team get out of this game? "A win. We talked to them today about just emptying the tank. Don't go through this process and leave anything in the tank," Johnson said. "That's what we want to see -- guys who leave everything on the field for the next two weeks, so we can end this thing with our head held high."

What has this group of seniors meant to the program? "I love them. It's a good group. I'm going to miss them dearly," Johnson said. "We've all hurt this year because this thing (season) has not turned out the way we hoped for, but I've got nothing but love for this group of seniors. They've done a lot of great things behind the scenes, things internally that the outside (community) doesn't know about that's really helped our program and put it in good position for the future."

You've got two games left in the regular season, how are you going to approach these next two games? "We're not talking about next year much. We may mention some things to our younger guys," Johnson said. "We're approaching it as a two-game season. Let's play these two games since we don't have a shot at the playoffs, but Greene Central and South Lenoir both do, so if we can't go, let's make sure we do everything in our power so they can't go. The name of the game is going to 2-0 at the end of it."
