CROSS COUNTRY: Thomas leads Saints

DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne's Bless Thomas finished third overall during the individual portion of a three-team, Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet contested Wednesday afternoon.
Thomas ran the 5k course in 19 minutes, 5 seconds.
Fellow Saint Jasavion Powell crossed the line ninth in 20:22.
On the girls' side, Caroline Best led short-handed Southern Wayne with a fifth-place effort of 26:26. Teammate Ebony Fuller logged a top-10 time of 27:37.
New Bern won both races.
