LAGRANGE -- This time, there was no interruption from Mother Nature.
There was, however, a comeback calling card from Charles B. Aycock quarterback Jake Flowers and his band of powder blue skill players.
Utilizing nine different options on offense, the Golden Falcons staged a second-half rally Monday evening, ultimately dispatching North Lenoir, 44-36, for their second victory of the season.
But it wasn't easy.
"I thought our kids came back tonight with great effort," head coach Steve Brooks said, "they never quit and we beat a team that ouplayed us."
With inclement weather forcing the game's postponement until Monday, Brooks and his staff had to modify a game plan that started quickly on offense, but surrendered 36 first-half points to the host Hawks.
The effort worked.
Trailing 36-27 at the break, Aycock was stellar when play resumed, pitching a shutout on the defensive side of the ball and racking up 17 second-half points to win, 44-36.
"Jake played his most complete game, even with a rocky start," the coach said, "He did things with his feet and his arm that gave us a chance to win."
The Golden Falcons, now 2-1 on the season, must turn the calendar pages quickly. They play host Wayne County rival Goldsboro High on Friday.
