FLORENCE, S.C. -- Isabella Nunu tapped in the game's lone goal in the sixth minute as the University of Mount Olive women's soccer team fended off Francis Marion, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Trojans capitalized on an early foul as they built an attack against the Patriots' defense. Niza Vera fired a shot on goal that the FMU keeper saved, but deflected to the feet of Nunu.
Nunu scored from six yards out.
UMO's defense preserved the one-goal advantage and goal keeper Stephanie McCoy registered five saves.
The Trojans (1-1-0 overall) open the home portion of their schedule Wednesday against UNC Pembroke. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Amon Field.
