County athletics directors decided to err on the side of caution due to inclement weather expected from Tropical Storm Hermine which is predicted to soak eastern North Carolina on Friday.
Six of seven games slated for Friday were moved to today.
* C.B. Aycock at North Lenoir;
* Midway at Rosewood;
* East Carteret at Spring Creek;
* Parrott Academy at Wayne Christian;
* North Duplin at South Lenoir;
* and Princeton at Franklinton.
Late Thursday morning, the Wayne County Public Schools office announced that the Goldsboro at Southern Wayne game has been moved to next Tuesday in Dudley.
Monday is Labor Day and WCPS does not allow games to be played when school is not in session during the calendar year.
According to early-morning reports, the National Weather Service (NWS) said Hermine had shifted east and continued to strengthen, which means it could have an impact on the eastern part of the state.
A tropical storm watch was expanded for Georgia and South Carolina.
