Zack Childress emerged as Eastern Wayne's top male finisher in 20 minutes, 9 seconds during a four-team Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet contested on the Warriors' 3.1-mile course Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors' Paige Childress ran the course in 25:55.
New Bern emerged as the lowest-scoring boys and girls team.
"(A) great first meet," EW's Sydney Meyers said. "Everyone has worked hard and should see times drop as the season progresses."
