BOYS' SOCCER: Guthrie's goal lifts EW to road win

DEEP RUN -- Freshman Michael Guthrie notched the eventual game-winning goal in the 66th minute as Eastern Wayne tripped up South Lenoir, 2-1, on Wednesday evening.
Christian Anderson gave EW a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute.
Second-year Warriors head coach Scott Summers praised his defensive unit of Bryan Morales, Tymir Turner Wade, Angus Dove, Drew Barnes, Jamie Lamont, Claiborne Smith and Jamie Simpson. They kept the Blue Devils off the board until the 73rd minute.
Summers described the effort as a "well-played game."
Eastern Wayne (2-1-1 overall) entertains South Lenoir today. Kickoff is 6 p.m. in New Hope.
