WILSON -- Lexi Reeves pulled off a three-set victory at No. 5 singles during Charles B. Aycock's 7-2, non-conference loss to Fike on Tuesday afternoon.
Reeves defeated the Golden Demons' Avery Rose Brown 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9). She and teammate Michaela Boyd earned the Golden Falcons' lone doubles point -- a 9-8 (6) thriller over Fike's Brown-Anna Blair Thomas at the No. 3 spot.
"It was a good match and our girls got some good experience from it," second-year CBA head coach Gene Stancil said.
Fike secured the outcome in singles plays.
"The match was a repeat of the Wilson Cup, but the matches at five singles and three doubles were closer," Fike head coach Lee Matthews said.
Aycock (2-2 overall) opens its Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference season at home Thursday against Southern Wayne.
