* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Southern Wayne 25-16, 25-15 -- Shae Odom recorded seven assists and two aces in the Gators' road win. Emily Dupuy posted four kills and three aces. Kloie Jordan and Alex Jordan served two and four aces, respectively.
* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day d. Rocky Mount Academy 1-0 -- Preston Barnes tallied the game-winning goal off an assist from Frank Best in the Chargers' season-opening game. WCDS (1-0-0 overall) entertains Parrott Academy next Tuesday.
* Volleyball: Wallace-Rose Hill d. North Duplin 25-15, 25-18 -- It was the season-opening match for the Rebels.
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Rocky Mount Academy 25-5, 25-6 -- Lexi Jeffreys, Cate Eagles and Graysen Jeffreys combined for 15 kills in the Chargers' three-set sweep on the road. Graysen Jeffreys and Jala Holloman each had two kills. WCDS (2-0 overall) plays host to Oakwood on Aug. 25.
* Volleyball: North Lenoir d. Eastern Wayne 25-21, 25-20 -- Demiya Yelverton had two kills, served five of the team's 10 aces and collected four digs on defense during the Warriors' road loss Thursday afternoon.
* Volleyball: Goldsboro d. Hobbton 25-23, 21-25, 16-14 -- Nadia Coles had six aces and four kills for the Cougars. Fayth Serlick contributed seven aces. Daryn Taylor had 13 assists and three aces.
