VOLLEYBALL: Eastern Wayne 2-0 with new head coach

Eastern Wayne is off to a 2-0 start with new head coach Anna Hajjar after a 25-16, 25-21, 25-17 decision over North Johnston on Tuesday evening.
Sophomore Alyssa Jackson provided match highs in kills (8) and solo blocks (3) as the Warriors earned their second win over the Panthers in a 24-hour period. Junior Emily Newsome had seven kills, four service aces and 10 assists.
Jennifer Sparks served seven aces and had 15 digs.
Naomi Williams dished out 11 assists.
On Monday, the Warriors handed the Panthers a four-set defeat -- 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-17. Newsome (eight digs) and Jackson combined for 15 kills, while Brianna Autman had six kills.
Sparks just missed a double-double with nine aces and 15 digs. Kailey Peedin-Rouse had eight digs. EW had 42 digs as a team.
