* Boys' basketball: Spring Creek 46, Hobbton 31 -- Allen Hickman pumped in a team-leading 13 points for the Gators. Xavion Garcia contributed nine points.

* Boys' basketball: James Kenan 61, Rosewood 45 -- Connor Vernon paced the visiting Eagles with 11 points. Jonathan Peacock logged 10 points. Michael Reed and Colby Harris scored eight and seven points, respectively. Cameron Hayes supplied a team- and game-high 18 points for James Kenan. Rosewood returns home Friday to face Lakewood.

* Boys' basketball: Wilmington Cardinal 52, Goldsboro Heat 36 -- Hayden Portela carried the Heat with 15 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two assists. Hayden Perry pulled down nine rebounds. Joe Rasmussen added seven points and five rebounds. Goldsboro (3-8 overall) is the guest of Wilmington on Friday and entertains Alamance on Saturday.

* Boys' basketball: Lakewood 67, North Duplin 52 -- Game details were not provided. The Rebels entertain county rival James Kenan on Friday.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Greenwood 52, Mount Olive 8 -- Aleesha Boyette led the T-Birds with 22 points. Rachel Babbitt and Aliyah Harrington scored nine points apiece. Greenwood improved to 9-1 overall this season.

* Boys' basketball: Greenwood 51, Mount Olive 37 -- Christian Bullock and JB Rhodes knocked down 14 points apiece for Greenwood. Teammate Devin Brown contributed 10 points. The T-Birds rose to 8-2 overall.
