Rosewood, Goldsboro swimmers hold 'mini meet'

While their three county rivals dueled for supremacy in the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference championship meet, Goldsboro and Rosewood held their own "mini competition" in the B.G. Darden Natatorium.

Rosewood won 12 events.

Goldsboro won six.

The teams didn't have entrants in four events.

The Cougars' Anna Breck claimed first-place honors in the 50 free (29.39 seconds) and 100 free (1:05.23). Teammates Navya Dixit and Mattie Rose Lyon ended up first in the 500 free and 200 free, respectively.

Breck, Kaylee Lyon, Anna Prezbindowski and Mattie Lyon won the 200 medley relay in 2:23.82. The same foursome captured first in the 200 free relay in 2:10.34.

Rosewood's Rebecca Fitzmaurice secured first in the 200 individual medley (IM) and 100 breaststroke. Fitzmaurice, Sarah Dietz, Shayla Marak and Elaina Amy combined for a first-place time of 5:29.35 in the 400 free relay.

The Eagles' Riley Barber seized the top time (1:23.02) in the 100 backstroke.

On the boys' side, Rosewood had two multiple winners -- Kodey Silknitter (50 free, 100 breaststroke) and Wes Chandler (200 IM, 100 fly). Dalton Ira claimed the 200 free is 2:09.35. Owen Blevins touched the wall first in the 100 free (1:07.58).

Rosewood's quartet of Ira, Blevins, Chandler and Silknitter won the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
