Naheria Hamilton blocked a single-season and school-record 20 shots during Eastern Wayne's 63-28 loss to perennial power Greensboro Dudley on Monday afternoon.
Hamilton tied the single-game state record set by East Davidson's Bayley Plummer, who accomplished the feat against Thomasville (Feb. 19, 2014) and Thomasville Ledford (Dec. 12, 2014).
A senior, Hamilton collected 15 points on 5 of 9 shooting from the floor and pulled down 11 of the team's 21 rebounds for the game. Freshman Nyesha Best contributed eight points and two assists.
The Warriors shot 26 percent from the floor as a team.
Eastern Wayne (7-7 overall) returns home today to face county rival Southern Wayne (5-10) in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference game. Each team is looking to snap a three-game skid.
Tip-off is approximately 6:30 p.m.
