WRESTLING: Warriors compete in Rumble on the Mat

DEEP RUN -- Eastern Wayne claimed 36 individual victories during the annual Rumble on the Mat contested inside Munn Gymnasium on the South Lenoir campus.
The Warriors defeated East Carteret (48-36), Pasquotank County (54-30) and Pamlico County (48-30). Head coach Aaron Lynch's squad endured losses against Southern Nash and the host Blue Devils.
Mario Harper, Cainen Miller and Jordan Wooten each ended the day 5-0 for Eastern Wayne. Teammates Jonathan Harris and Colby Miller each collected four individual wins.
Nate Matthews and Jalyn Joyner each defeated three opponents. The Warriors also got victories from DeAngelo Greenfield (two), Dilissus Council (two), Chris Howard (two) and Emmanuel Harper (one).
Eastern Wayne returns home Tuesday for a four-team meet that includes county rival Rosewood, North Johnston and Nash Central.
