STANHOPE -- Injury-plagued Charles B. Aycock emerged victorious in just two of five matches during the annual Thomas Cowles Firebird Duals contested at Southern Nash.
The Golden Falcons defeated Southern Nash (40-30) and Fuquay-Varina (63-18). However, they endured losses against eventual dual champion Raleigh Millbrook (51-29), Middle Creek (50-24) and nemesis Rocky Mount (45-36).
CBA junior Joshua Wallace ended the day 5-0.
"Not a great day for us," Golden Falcons head coach RJ Allen said. "After coming off a difficult week and losing two of our starters, this tournament did not go well for us. Those two teams (Southern Nash, F-V) also had holes in the lineups due to injuries.
