MOUNT OLIVE -- Defending Conference Carolinas champion University of Mount Olive is ranked No. 13 in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II women's preseason poll.
The Trojan women return five all-conference, two IWLCA all-South Region team and three all-CC tournament selections from a year ago. UMO ended last season ranked No. 9 nationally.
Riann Daziel led the conference in goals scored (57) and ranked third in total points (68). Keeper Hannah Knight ranked among the conference leaders in several statistical categories -- save percentage (.509), goals allowed (79) and goals-against average (5.91).
Knight was named the MVP after logging 13 saves after a double-OT triumph over Limestone in the 2015 Conference Carolinas tournament championship game.
The Trojan women launch their 2016 campaign on Feb. 6 against league foe North Greenville (S.C.) University. Face-off is 2 p.m. at Amon Field.
