New Bern girls top Southern Wayne

NEW BERN -- Zaria Atkins emerged as Southern Wayne's lone player in double figures with 15 points in a 48-37 loss to New Bern on Tuesday evening.
It was the Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference opener for both teams.
Iyahna Bess chipped in four points for the Saints. Atkins (eight rebounds) and Nadia Chesnutt combined to drain four 3-pointers.
Southern Wayne visits C.B. Aycock on Thursday.
