O'Daniel has solid night in pool for WCDS

Freshman Grace O'Daniel recorded a pair of top-7 finishes in two individual events and helped Wayne Country Day place fifth in two relays during a nine-team meet contested the Goldsboro Family Y on Monday evening.

O'Daniel emerged as the runner-up in the 200 individual medley (IM) in 2 minutes, 57.92 seconds. She claimed seventh in the 50 free in 31.04. Daniel swam the second leg on the 200 medley relay that touched the wall fifth in 2:35.27. She was joined by Abby Skinner, Allison Bailey and anchor Laurel Hinson.

Hinson, Skinner, O'Daniel and Bailey secured fifth in the 200 free relay in 2:15.02. Bailey ended up sixth in the 100 free, while Skinner seized fifth in the 100 back.

Wayne Christian's foursome of Grace Buddin, Paige Court, Anna Rendall and Audrey Worrell turned in a seventh-place effort of 2:38.28 in the 200 free relay.

On the boys' side, Wayne Country Day's Zan Pittman captured second in the 200 free. Daniel Covert placed third in the 200 free and sixth in the 50 free. Charlie Dees grabbed fourth in the 100 free and Chris Skinner wound up sixth in the 100 breaststroke.

The Chargers' quartet of Skinner, Charlie Li, Lance Davis and Nolan Davis claimed sixth in the 200 free relay.

Wayne Christian's Stephen Whitfield logged top-8 times in the 50 free (4th, 29.53) and 100 free (1:09.). The foursome of Mason White, Daniel Rodgerson, Hunter Burt and Whitfield placed fourth in the 200 free relay in 2:15.03.
