Wayne Country Day turned in another solid defensive performance and upended Oakwood, 59-43, on Friday evening.

Tony Townsend and PJ Hill handled the duty of running a diamond-and-one defense which shut down Oakwood's top scorer. The challenge grew greater as two WCDS players fouled out and another Charger played with four fouls.

"Great all around play from the team and smart decision making in the end were big factors," WCDS head coach David Flowers said.

Jamal Forde led the Chargers' offense with 24 points. Townsend, Hill and Justin Lofton-Russell supplied nine points apiece. Hill dished out six assists and pulled down six rebounds.

Forde and Emmanuel Walker combined for 13 rebounds.

Wayne Country Day (9-4 overall) returns to action Dec. 28 against Eastern Wayne in opening-round play of the Southern Bank/Mount Olive Pickle Classic at the University of Mount Olive.
