PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools news

JV

* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 28, Rosewood 20 -- Marquez Farmer claimed top-scoring honors with 12 points for the Golden Falcons. Muhammad Brooks, Kamarion Graham and Jordan Woodard contributed four points apiece.

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian 79, Lee Christian 73 (OT) -- Jaxon Anderson scored 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists, picked up four steals and blocked four shots in the Eagles' road win. Logan Jackson logged a double-double -- 17 points, 14 rebounds. Austin Strickland contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Will White provided 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Micaiah Singletary posted eight points and 10 rebounds. Jayden Young played a solid floor game with five points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and one blocked shot.

* Boys' basketball: South Lenoir 63, Spring Creek 41 -- Allen Hickman led the visiting Gators with 20 points. Tadashi Garcia contributed eight points.

* Girls' basketball: Corinth-Holders 31, Princeton 23 -- Jordan Benson paced the Bulldogs' offense with a game-high 15 points. Takira Cummings contributed seven points. Benson and Cummings grabbed four rebounds apiece. Princeton (0-4 overall) entertains Charles B. Aycock on Monday.

* Girls' basketball: Wayne Country Day 40, Oakwood 4 -- Lexi Jeffreys tallied 17 points and teammate Summer Daniels chipped in 10 for the Chargers. WCDS (5-0 overall) faces Wayne Christian on Monday.

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 44, Oakwood 17 -- Case Kermode emerged as the Chargers' top scorer with 12 points. Marcus Metcalf added nine points. WCDS (8-2 overall) returns to action Jan. 5, 2016 at Neuse Christian.

* Girls' basketball: Southern Wayne 35, North Lenoir 15 -- Racquel McCullen and Zaria Coleman scored eight points apiece in the Saints' victory. Southern Wayne (6-2 overall) visits New Bern next Tuesday.

Middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 34, Oakwood 15 -- Dylan Brown tallied nine points and Will McDonald added six in the Chargers' victory. WCDS (1-3 overall) plays Wayne Christian on Monday.

* Girls' basketball: Grantham 36, Eastern Wayne 34 (OT) -- Morgan Kennedy dropped in 19 points for the victorious Bulldogs. Grace Tart added seven points. Grantham's Allie Gurley converted three key free throws nearly the end of regulation to force overtime. The Bulldogs (2-1 overall) entertain Spring Creek on Monday. Eastern Wayne fell to 1-3 overall.
