HIGH POINT -- Two-time defending Conference Carolinas indoor track and field men's champion University of Mount Olive -- by the slimmest of margins -- has been picked for a "three-peat" this season by the league's head coaches.
The Trojan men received five first-place nods and edged Limestone (S.C.), 67-66, in total ballot points. The Saints drew three first-place votes.
Ironically, UMO and Limestone finished first and second, respectively, at the season-ending Conference Carolinas championship meet a year ago.
North Greenville earned third place in the preseason poll with 59 points. King (Tenn.) garnered 52 points, followed by Lees-McRae (46) and Barton College (40).
Pfeiffer U and Belmont Abbey collected 31 points apiece.
