PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle school news

* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 32, Princeton 19 -- Kania Slocumb poured in a game- and team-high 16 points in the Golden Falcons' non-conference win. Freshmen Sharon Moorefield and Heaven Tatum each scored four points. Jordan Benson scored seven points for the Bulldogs. Teammates Shy Luna and Megan Bryant each tallied four points. Princeton (0-3 overall) is the guest of Southern Wayne on Dec. 6.

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 60, Community Christian 54 -- Marcus Metcalf torched the net for a game- and team-high 30 points for the Chargers. Will Rose and Case Kermode supplied 12 and 10 points, respectively. WCDS (6-1 overall) is the guest of Trinity of Fayetteville next Tuesday.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Dillard 45, Wayne School of Engineering 11 -- Ania Sands led the Tigers' offensive attack with 16 points. Zeanya Jones and Dyamond George registered 15 and 14 points, respectively. Dillard (2-0 overall) entertains Grantham on Monday.

* Boys' basketball: Grantham 38, Brogden 26 -- Mark Graham pumped in 12 points for victorious Bulldogs. Teammates Tayvon Callahan and Xavious Speight dropped in 10 points apiece. It was Grantham's season-opening game. Brogden exited 0-2 overall.

* Girls' basketball: Grantham 42, Brogden 4 -- Morgan Kennedy emerged as the Bulldogs' top scorer with 17 points. Alissa Meadows scored 13, while Allie Gurley knocked down six points. It was Grantham's season-opening game. The Rams departed 0-2.
