La GRANGE -- Down by two, Charles B. Aycock faced an energized North Lenoir team that finished the game with a 10-3 run and closed out a 59-50 victory Tuesday evening.

"Aside from Cameron (Kornegay) tonight, we were not very good on the free throw line," CBA head coach Dave Elmore said. "I think Cam was six and seven or seven and eight. He was very good. Other than that, as a team, we were not very good from the free throw line."

Kornegay, a senior, shot a jumper in the first quarter to give the Golden Falcons an 11-5 lead.

Kornegay passed the ball to senior Alex Mooring, who assisted junior Damien Darden with a layup. Senior Keyshawn Cobb assisted Kornegay with a basket and drew a foul.

CBA tied North Lenoir, 22-22, but the Hawks started to inch away.

North Lenoir junior Lshawn Davis bounced the ball to junior Reed Parris for a back door play, and the Hawks led 26-22 at halftime.

Senior Tyrique Ford stole the ball from the Hawks to open the third quarter. Ford passed it to senior Ian Best, but Best threw it back to Ford for two more points. Senior Keyshawn Cobb assisted junior Chandler Matthews with a 3-point corner shot.

The Golden Falcons snuck by the Hawks, 29-28. But senior Dijon Cobb annoyed CBA's guards and scored on drives to the basket, which carried North Lenoir to a 42-39 lead after three quarters.

After a charge from the Hawks, Best hit a field goal and a top-of-the-key 3-pointer. Kornegay then drew a foul and made both of his foul shots.

CBA found itself down 49-47, but a technical foul handed the ball to Davis, who sunk both free throws.

The Hawks reacted. Cobb threw the ball to Parris for a jumper, and Parris assisted senior Craig Strickland with a 2-point shot. Matthews assisted Best with a 3-point shot.

Davis scored 26 points and was 6 of 9 from the foul line. Parris had nine points, and Strickland had six.

Kornegay ended the game with 18 points and was 5 of 8 from the free throw line. Best had 11 points, while Matthews had eight.

"I love their (CBA) effort," Elmore said. "The effort's been there. It's just that we got to clean up the execution and end-of-game situations."

The Golden Falcons (0-4 overall) play host to South Johnston on Dec. 1.
