La GRANGE -- Charles B. Aycock junior "Mookie" Powell hobbled to midcourt after she ran into a North Lenoir defender under the basket with two minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Powell sat on the court and held her brace-covered left leg. Golden Falcons head coach Roy Harrell and an assistant coach lifted Powell and walked with her back to the bench.

She returned in the second quarter to lift her team from a first-quarter deficit to a 59-30 win over the Hawks on Tuesday evening.

Powell, who played as if she had no knee brace, drove into the lane to shoot a jumper, stole the ball from the Hawks off of an inbounds pass and assisted her teammates with 3-point shots.

CBA led North Lenoir, 26-11, at halftime.

Junior Lexie Edmundson received an assist from Powell at the start of the third quarter, but passed it back to Powell for a layup. Edmundson passed to junior Connor Vinson, who pushed her team to a 32-11 lead with two more points.

Junior Destiny Washington assisted sophomore Cassandra Lassiter with a field goal late in the third quarter.

The Golden Falcons continued to fly away from the Hawks as Powell assisted Edmundson, who banked in a 3-pointer, and sophomore Hannah Vinson with a basket.

Three CBA players were in double digits including Hannah Vinson with 12, senior Taylor Daniels with 11 and Sean-Keya Faison with 10. Powell had nine points.

"We just had to wake up," Harrell said. "We were asleep the first quarter, and in a daze is really what it looked like. That's when I told them to get their heads out their behind.

"I think it showed in the second quarter. We scored 22 points."

Aycock (3-1 overall) plays host to South Johnston on Dec. 1.
