UMO's Adams ends up 16th individually

BURLINGTON -- Sophomore Nick Adams finished 16th individually among 92 golfers, and University of Mount Olive ended up ninth as a team during the three-day Elon Phoenix Men's Golf Invitational contested at Alamance Country Club.
Adams carded nine birdies on his scorecard and posted a three-day total of 218. He recorded the program's third-lowest 18-hole round and claimed eighth place in UMO history for the lowest 54-hole score.
John Thatch (222) shared 31st and has the ninth-lowest 54-hole score in the program record books. Brady Hollenbacher (228) tied for 50th and Liam McAnally (231) rounded out the Trojans' team scoring with a 65th-place performance.
Harry Bayley recorded two eagles in the second round.
UMO posted a team total of 891 and finished ahead of six Division I schools -- Presbyterian (S.C.) College, Western Carolina, Wright State, High Point U, Binghamton and Savannah State.
East Carolina claimed the team title.
Women's golf
DADE CITY, Fla. -- Julie Loennechen shared 14th place individually among 84 competitors, and University of Mount Olive ended up 14th as a team during the Saint Leo Women's Golf Invitational play on the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club links.
Loennechen shot a 36-hole total of 154. Paula Guridi took 69th place with a 170, followed Julia Kaeding's 171. Anne Barboteau completed the Trojans' scoring with a 173 -- good enough for 74th.
UMO shot 668 as a team.
The Trojans completed the fall portion of their season.
