GREENVILLE -- Eastern Wayne senior Fiona Pedrick earned Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference female runner-of-the-year honors, and Charles B. Aycock claimed the boys' team title during Wednesday's season-ending meet contested at Boyd Lee Park.
The Golden Falcons placed five runners among the top 12 and upended New Bern 42-56. Joseph Mooneyham led CBA's charge with a third-place individual performance of 17:49.82.
Teammates Deshawn Owens (18:24.85) and Cameron Sims (18:37.63) secured seventh and ninth place, respectively. The Golden Falcons' Hunter Crane (18:53.33) and Josh Parrish (18:53.77) finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
Mooneyham, Owens and Sims earned spots on the 10-member all-ECC team along with Southern Wayne's tandem of Cole Atwood (6th, 18:18.67) and Bless Thomas (8th, 18:35.76).
CBA's Butch Bennett was selected as the ECC boys' coach-of-the-year.
Eastern Wayne's Rudy Spears crossed the line 13th in 18:54.85. Teammate Noah Bernard (20:49.48) secured 48th place while Keshonte Henry (22:52.95) was 55th.
Pedrick's season-long battle with South Central's Chloe Cxo ended in non-dramatic fashion. Pedrick crossed the finish line in 19 minutes, 28.06 seconds -- nearly 19 1/2 seconds faster than Cox.
Cox and her South Central teammates claimed the team crown.
Pedrick was the lone 3-A runner to earn a spot on the 10-member all-ECC team. Teammate Olivia Durfey ended up 46th overall in 27:19.04.
Charles B. Aycock's trio of Tara Price (23:34.09), Mackenzie Stewart (23:42.58) and Sara Gregory (23:53.42) finished 26th, 27th and 28th, respectively.
The Golden Falcons claimed fifth in the team title chase.
Nadia Chestnutt emerged as Southern Wayne's top runner with a 30th-place time of 25:01.3. Teammates Ammi Perez (25:25.20), Elizabeth Lopez (26:01.69) and Ebony Fuller (26:18.35) each finished among the top 40.
