WCDS girls' tennis, boys' soccer earn at-large bids to NCISAA 1A playoffs

Two-time defending state champion Wayne Country Day is the top seed heading into next week's N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A dual-team women's tennis playoffs.
The Chargers (14-1 overall) play host to eighth-seeded University Christian High School next Tuesday. First serve is 3 p.m. on the Wayne Community College courts.
Wayne Country Day won the 2013 state title with a dramatic come-from-behind win over perennial powerhouse Statesville Christian. The two met again last season in the final with the Chargers sealing their second consecutive crown in singles play.
Kerr-Vance Academy is the No. 2 seed.
An at-large selection, the Chargers (18-2-1 overall) drew a No. 2 seed and opening-round bye in the soccer playoffs. They'll entertain either seventh-seeded Statesville Christian or 10th-seeded Community Christian next Tuesday.
Kickoff is 4 p.m.
Defending state champion Hickory Christian is the top seed.
