Monday night football can be just as emotional as Friday.

Goldsboro lost 14-10 to Farmville Central on Monday which left the Cougars' feelings running high after the game.

"It can be the killer of you if you don't know how to harness it," said Cougars' head coach Bennett Johnson. "We could never get it going for whatever reason."

Senior quarterback Na'Shir Bowden did whatever it took for his team to win, but overthrown snaps and fumbles forced the Jaguars to control the game. Bowden threw for a six-yard touchdown to senior wide receiver Eric Bufkin in the second quarter to tie the game, 7-7.

Bowden ended the game with 68 passing yards.

"There was a lot of heat on him," Johnson said. "They were putting a lot of pressure on him. He hung in there, though. He just couldn't seem to get anything going tonight offensively."

Senior cornerback Ray'quan Griffin had two receptions for 50 yards, while Bufkin had two receptions for 18 yards. Junior running back Daryl Gaddies had eight rushing yards, and senior running back Jamal Wilson had 72 rushing yards.

Senior kicker Jonathan Stevens kicked an 18-yard field goal in the third quarter, which put Goldsboro up 10-7.

With less than a minute left in the fourth quarter, Jaguar senior running back Kashon Baker rushed for a two-yard touchdown, which gave his team a 14-10 lead and eventually led to the win.

"We played with a lot of heart and effort tonight," Johnson said. "Our attitudes got the best of us."

Farmville Central (3-3) overall travels to Eastern Plains 2-A foe Washington on Oct. 9. Goldsboro (3-3) opens Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference play the same evening at North Lenoir.

"North Lenoir's not going to be a pushover by no means," Johnson said. "Especially going to their place. We're going to have to be ready. It's not going to be easy at all."
