WCDS nets 2 crucial doubles points against St. Mary's

RALEIGH -- Wayne Country Day emerged victorious at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles, and turned back St. Mary's 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers' No. 1 tandem of Gianna Democko-Jennifer Potts controlled their match from the opening serve, and defeated Portie Stallings-Hannah Jones 8-2. Pope-Barnes, the No. 3 seed, squeezed out a 9-7 triumph over Hannah Leland-Lucy Glover.
Democko, Potts and Eliza Eagles each claimed a singles point.
Wayne Country Day (10-1 overall) is the guest of Greenfield next Tuesday.
