VOLLEYBALL -- Rosewood tops Hobbton in 4 sets

NEWTON GROVE -- Rosewood grabbed its sixth victory in Carolina 1-A Conference play this season with a 23-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 conquest of Hobbton on Thursday afternoon.
Lexi Mercer cranked out 17 kills and posted five blocks. Tayzlie Tripple supplied 12 kills and five digs on defense. Ada Rivera handed out 13 assists. Kaitlyn Kincaid and Payton Lane passed out eight and five assists, respectively.
Carrie Beckert emerged as the defensive leader with 11 digs, while Macy Tyndall collected 10 digs. Beckert and Weeks combined for seven kills.
Rosewood (8-6 overall, 6-2 CC) continues play Monday at Goldsboro.
