Sauls helps Aycock post third-place finish

AYDEN -- Sophomore Abby Sauls captured second place individually with a 50 and helped lead Charles B. Aycock to a third-place finish during an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference match contested at Ayden Country Club on Tuesday.

Anna Williams and Leah Campbell completed the Golden Falcons' team score of 167 with nine-hole rounds of 56 and 61, respectively. Samantha Castereno also shot a 61.

Southern Wayne ended up with a three-player total of 186. Cathryn Jones paced the Saints with a 61. Amanda Murphy shot a 62, while Shawana Rodriguez turned in a 63.

New Bern won the meet with a 150. The Bears' Caroline Bryant and Riley Casey shared medalist honors with a 48.

C.B. Aycock (21-3 overall, 5-3 ECC) returns home Sept. 15 for a non-conference match against Wayne Christian. The next regular-season ECC tournament is Sept. 21 at Ayden CC.
